Police have charged Jerome Isaac, 47, of Brooklyn with two counts of murder and one count of arson following the burning death of Deloris Gillespie.

Isaac walked into a Brooklyn police station on Sunday morning wreaking of gasoline. He approached police and told them that he had started a fire.

The tragedy happened at 203 Underhill Avenue in Prospect Heights.

Residents told CBS 2′s Dave Carlin they first heard screaming, then saw the smoke, and finally realized that a woman was on fire inside of the building’s elevator.
