Captain Kangaroo's' Mr. Baxter dies at 92

James Wall, who played Mr. Baxter on “Captain Kangaroo” during the 1960s and '70s, died in his sleep on October 27. He was 92.
When Wall ended his run as Captain Kangaroo’s smart neighbor on the popular children’s program in 1978, he became a stage manager at CBS, where he worked up until last year.
A fixture at the network, The Director’s Guild of America presented Wall with the Franklin J. Schaffner Achievement Award in 1994.
Wall is survived by his wife.
