THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) - A 39-year-old Southern California man has been arrested for misdemeanor child annoyance after allegedly paying a teenager $31 to spit in his face. The Ventura County Sheriff's Department says Charles Hersel was arrested Wednesday in a sting operation at a mall in Thousand Oaks. He's free from jail pending a court hearing.
A sheriff's statement says Westlake High School students claimed Hersel paid them to yell profanities, spit and slap him in the face. Several also claimed he offered them cash to urinate and defecate on him.
A motive wasn't clear.
Authorities say Hersel contacted some teens through the MySpace social networking site.
Hersel couldn't be reached for comment Friday. He had no listed phone number in Thousand Oaks.

this is Charles Hersel. I was acquitted of these child annoyance charges by a unanimous not guilty jury verdict on February 7,2012 at Ventura Superior Court.Connor Gantt,Keats Stanley,Austin Perry and Joseph Mathews (Jp Mathews) all spat on me and yelled profanities at me for cash. Joseph Mathews also smacked me hard and put his shoe in my mouth. Chris Anderson yelled profanities at me for cash. They all laughed and were very excited while they abused me. They all really showed that they enjoyed mistreating me. I asked for the mistreatment as I was a survivor of child abuse. All these guys graduated from Westlake Village High School in Westlake Village, California in 2010. Also, they all brought their friends to mistreat me as well and their friends laughed, were excited and enjoyed abusing me for cash as well. Casey Bliss yelled profanities at me for cash, as did Alex S. Waziya Dupris and Patrick Ryan Sands both said they would spit on me and yell profanities at me for cash,but we never met up. Brian Barbosa said that he would yell profanities at me for cash, but this never took place. Nick Weaver, Zack Weaver and Greg Karakashian (graduated from same high school in 2010) also spat on me and yelled profanities at me for cash. Anthony Mian (graduated in 2011 from same school) also yelled profanities at me for cash. All these guys really enjoyed abusing me, a survivor of child abuse and texted me and called me constantly to keep mistreating me for cash. As I have won the case and it is closed it's time for my side, the winning side in this case, to be told.
